TMZ now reports West was given Narcan before he was arrested Monday in Fairfax County, Virginia. As we posted earlier, officers and EMS responded to a call for a "male unconscious and not breathing" near Fair Haven Avenue. When they arrived, West was breathing — but they still administered Naloxone out of caution.

Narcan is an opioid antagonist often used to rapidly reverse the effects of opioids and save someone from overdose.

Police then offered to take West to the hospital. TMZ says he refused. Officers say he was extremely intoxicated, so rather than transport him medically, he was taken into custody for his own safety.

He was arrested for obstruction/resisting arrest without force and public intoxication. He has since bonded out, and it's unclear whether he'll face additional charges.

This is sadly not new territory.

West was arrested almost exactly a year ago by the same department for trespassing. He was also jailed in June 2024 for violating the conditions of his release and resisting arrest. There have been several other legal issues in recent years as he's battled substance abuse and homelessness.

West, 42, played eight NBA seasons and had stretches of success, particularly alongside LeBron James in Cleveland. Fans have hoped for a turnaround for years.

This week's incident adds more concern that he's still in a dangerous spiral.
