Kid Pulls AK-47 On Isaiah Thomas

NBA 10-year veteran Isaiah Thomas was strolling through the streets of his hometown Tacoma, Washington when a kid with an AK-47 pulled up on him and his crew, supposedly wanting to rob the Federal Way basketball star.

Thomas called it a "life changing moment."

"Really trippin on how these young kids are moving around!!! I really had a life changing moment yesterday where a kid pulled a AK47 out on me and the homies and if it wasn't for who I was and him recognizing me in my own city he probably woulda ended all of our lives. Be SAFE ??"

The 2x All-Star credited his fame to helping deter the gunman from harming him in his city. That is to say, if it was an "Isaac" Thomas instead of Isaiah, maybe a robbery or worse would have gone down. Thomas is grateful to be alive, but worries for the rest of those in his city, who may have not been as fortunate as him.

At 5'9" Thomas was the 60th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft (last pick), yet despite his size, he makes up for it with his heart and determination, which has helped lead him to a storied career. Notably, Thomas played for 10 different organizations throughout his 10 seasons in the league.

The shot-creating, scoring threat guard was most well-known for his role as the starting point guard for the Boston Celtics, as he was an All-Star two times throughout his three-year tenure with the team. That is, Thomas' best season came when he averaged 28.9 points (46.3% FG; 37.9% 3PT) and 5.9 assists per game during the 2016-2017 season.

After not appearing on an NBA roster for the entirety of the 2022-23 season, Thomas signed a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns at the end of March this year. Ultimately, he then ended up being signed for the rest of the season, but only appeared in six games, averaging 1.3 points in 3.2 minutes per game.

Nevertheless, the 35-year-old certainly has not lost his touch, as in his short tenure in the NBA's G-League, he averaged 36.2 points in seven career games (2022+2024 season).
