The six-time All-Star posted a message on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday. He included a photo of him and James embracing on the court.
"An honor to play with and learn from you (LeBron James)," Doncic wrote in his Stories.
Doncic did not spend considerable amount of time playing alongside James. He joined the Lakers during the 2024-25 season as part of a stunning trade involving the Mavericks. Yet, he made it clear that he enjoyed his time working with James when given the opportunity.
Doncic is far from the only person reacting to the news that James would enter free agency. This created countless reactions that ran beyond the boundaries of the NBA landscape. People from multiple other sports and industries weighed in with a mix of heartfelt messages and jokes.
For example, numerous racing teams joked about James exiting the Lakers so that he could compete in F1, NASCAR, and IndyCar. Kaulig Racing "added" James to its NASCAR free agency program while TGR Haas F1 Team pointed to the "rumors" that it would target the four-time NBA champion for its driving roster.

No one fully knows where James will land in free agency. He has most frequently been linked to the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Golden State Warriors. He previously won titles with the Heat and Cavs while the Warriors present an opportunity to team up with Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
However, the Washington Wizards and Minnesota Timberwolves have also been included in various reports.
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that the next move will not focus on money. Instead, James will use "happiness" as his motivation as he seeks his next destination. Although winning a title will certainly remain part of the conversation.
