According to the New York Post, a fan named Phil Godlewski claims that a hotel kicked him and five other people out of a $20,000 hotel suite at the Ritz-Carlton on West 28th Street. This incident allegedly occurred after Godlewski saw Wembanyama, the occupant of the 41st floor's other suite, in the hall and said, "Good luck tonight, big guy."
Godlewski told The Post that the hotel manager knocked on the suite's door 10 minutes later and told them to leave.
"I'm sorry, but you guys are going to have to leave the premises,'" the manager said, according to Godlewski.
"I said, 'What? Why?' And she said, 'Because we were told you were harassing and waiting for the players to exit their rooms.'"
According to The Post, the Knicks fan told the hotel to look at the security cameras and she allegedly responded by saying that the 41st floor did not have cameras. He added that he saw a camera directly overhead and that he had contacted a lawyer about the situation.
The Knicks fan, who reportedly paid $750,000 for Game 4 tickets, took his family to the Trump International on Central Park West. He said that his 11-year-old son, a fan of Wembanyama, asked if he could burn his jersey upon returning home.
Of course, Game 4 marked a wild moment in NBA Finals history. The Knicks fell to a 29-point deficit during the game before mounting the largest comeback in NBA Finals history. Jalen Brunson (36 pts) and OG Anunoby (33 pts) paved the way with standout performances during the 107-106 win.
The Knicks took a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals after this Game 4 comeback. They went on to clinch the title with a Game 5 win.
