According to Boston 25 News, court documents show that Diggs faces felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges. Details surrounding the incident currently remain unclear after Diggs's attorney, Michael DiStefano, appeared in court on Tuesday and sought to have the police report impounded.

Boston 25 News reports that DiStefano said Diggs made a financial offer "to resolve this dispute" with his accuser, the alleged victim in this case. The current arraignment date for Diggs is Friday, Jan. 23, 2026.

"The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs," the team said in a statement. "Stefon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stefon.

"We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary. Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time."

The Patriots have one game remaining in the regular season. The team will host the Dolphins on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026. It remains unclear if Diggs will be available for this matchup.

The former Maryland wide receiver joined the Patriots this offseason on a three-year contract worth up to $69 million. He has appeared in 16 games while catching 82 passes for 970 yards and four touchdowns.

Diggs spent the first five seasons of his career with the Vikings, where he delivered multiple 1,000-yard seasons. His standout highlight was a last-second game-winning touchdown reception against the Saints in the divisional round of the playoffs.

He then spent four seasons with the Bills, where he became a four-time Pro Bowler and delivered four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Diggs led the league in 2020 with 1,535 receiving yards.

The veteran receiver spent the 2024-25 season with the Texans but only appeared in eight games due to a torn ACL.
