The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback posted a photo on his Instagram Story. It showed him standing in front of the mirror wearing what appeared to be a No. 23 Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James jersey. He added a simple caption at the bottom of the post, which said, "He's back."
Burrow suffered a toe injury in September, which had a potential recovery timeline of three months. However, the team opened his practice window on Nov. 10. Two weeks later, he is now set to return to the lineup.
This post on social media lines up with comments made by head coach Zac Taylor, who told reporters on Monday that Burrow "looks like he is in good shape and ready to go."
The post and Taylor's comments confirmed that Burrow will take back the starting job from Joe Flacco, who served as an injury replacement the last six games while throwing for 1,636 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions. The Bengals went 1-5 in this stretch while struggling on defense.
This defense gave up at least 26 points in all six games, at least 30 points in three games, and 47 points in another. It collapsed against the Bears and Jets while giving up touchdowns in the closing moments of both games.
Burrow will now take over as the Bengals team faces a 3-8 record. The team would need a miraculous turnaround to make the playoffs while winning the rest of the games on the schedule. The Bengals would also potentially need some help due to the various clinching scenarios that will unfold.
The first game on the schedule will take place on Thanksgiving. Burrow will return to the lineup against the Ravens, who now lead the AFC North with a 6-5 record. This battle will take place in Baltimore, and it will close out the busy holiday schedule with kickoff scheduled shortly after 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
