Makenna (Kenna) Miller, a volleyball player for the Longhorns, announced the news with multiple posts on Instagram. She first revealed that she and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Cooper McDonald were holding a photoshoot.

She added that the due date will be in September 2026, two months after their scheduled wedding date and four months after Miller's graduation.

The second post featured several snaps from the shoot. This included the happy couple looking at ultrasound photos while bathed in the light from a sunset. She also included a photo of a onesie hanging from a clothesline next to the ultrasound photos, and a baby-sized cowboy boot.

"It's been just the two of us for too long...party of three coming soon," Miller wrote on Instagram. "....So go ahead and unsave the date instead of 'I do'... we're DUE!

"'Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.' James 1:17."

McDonald, a Texas native, spent his college career split between three different universities. He played for the Washington Huskies in 2020-2021, the San Diego State Aztecs in 2022-2023, and the TCU Horned Frogs in 2024.

McDonald went undrafted in 2025, but he landed with the Chiefs after signing a three-year, $2,965,000 contract that included an average annual salary of $988,333.

The linebacker appeared in 17 games for the AFC West team as a rookie while starting one. He tallied 25 combined tackles and one for a loss. He allowed one completion on two passes thrown in his direction.

McDonald expects to be back with the Chiefs for his sophomore season while continuing to play under his rookie contract. He will earn $1,005,000 in 2026 and $1,120,000 in 2027, barring any unexpected changes.

For now, however, he will spend the offseason celebrating the birth of his first child with Miller.
