Travis Kelce has made it official. Weeks after indicating that he would return to the Kansas City Chiefs, he has officially signed his contract.

The Chiefs announced the news on Monday and then NFL insider Ian Rapoport provided some contract details. This three-year is worth $54.735 million, but it can go up to $57.735 million with incentives.

The first year of the deal includes a $12 million salary with up to $3 million in incentives. It is unlikely that Kelce will play multiple seasons after signing this contract.

Kelce returning for his 14th season with the Chiefs remained a question mark throughout the 2025 season. The 36-year-old still made plays for Patrick Mahomes and the other quarterbacks, but he did not serve as the centerpiece of the offense.

The former Cincinnati playmaker still led the team with 851 yards, but he scored the same number of touchdowns (five) as receivers Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice.

Of course, the biggest part of Kelce's game has been his ability to move the chains at pivotal moments. He continued to do this while accounting for 46 first downs. This tied his number of first downs from his first full season as a starter (2014).

Returning to the Chiefs for another season provides the veteran tight end with another opportunity to continue padding his already historic stats. He is by far the team's all-time leading receiver.

His 13,002 receiving yards are far ahead of Tony Gonzalez in second place (10,940) despite playing in only two more games for the Chiefs. He is the only player with more than 1,000 receptions (1,080). Gonzalez is second with 916. The touchdowns are a tad closer as Kelce only has 82 compared to Gonzalez's 76.

Even if Kelce has a pedestrian season while closing out his career, he will only add to his career numbers. He will create benchmarks that will be incredibly difficult for any future players to match.

Of course, stat-padding is not the reason for his return to the Chiefs. The goal is to win a fourth Super Bowl ring.
