Foles, a former backup quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, posted a message on X after hearing that Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix will miss the rest of the playoffs with a broken ankle and that the team will turn to backup Jarrett Stidham for the AFC championship matchup against the New England Patriots.
"Note for the Broncos and their fans: I know it has been an emotional 24 hours," Foles wrote. "I feel for Bo and the team, and I'm sending prayers for a strong recovery.
"A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games."

This post, of course, references the 2017 season when the Philadelphia Eagles had to turn to Foles at a pivotal point of the NFL schedule.
The Eagles started the year with Carson Wentz under center. The former first-round pick started the first 13 games and went 11-2. However, he tore his ACL during a 43-35 win over the Rams.
With Wentz on Injured Reserve, the Eagles turned to Foles for the final three games of the regular season and the playoffs. He went 2-1 in the regular season and then 3-0 in the playoffs.
Foles led the Eagles to a 15-10 divisional round over the Falcons. He then threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns during the NFC championship as the Eagles beat the Vikings 38-7.
Super Bowl 52 served as Foles' best performances. He threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught one pass for a touchdown on a play that will forever be known as the Philly Special. The Eagles knocked off the Patriots 41-33 while handing Tom Brady his third Super Bowl loss.
Foles may have been a backup quarterback during the 2017 season, but the Eagles have forever immortalized his place in franchise history.
A statue now sits outside Lincoln Financial Field, one that depicts the moment he asked head coach Doug Pederson, "Do you want Philly Philly?" This set up the now-famous trick play.
The former Eagles backup set a high bar, but Stidham does not have to quite reach it. He just needs to play solidly during the AFC championship against the Patriots while the defense tries to keep the opposing offense in check. If Stidham can deliver a few standout plays, he could help send the Broncos to the Super Bowl.
