Frederick Green, a 20-year-old drill artist who performs under the name Tbo Zay, was arrested this week after authorities linked him to the Nov. 16 shooting that left Boyd hospitalized with a stomach wound. Prosecutors say Green's music ended up offering chilling foreshadowing.

In a YouTube video posted three months ago, Green rapped about "accurate aim," firing shots, and riding around in a BMW.

Police say he fled the Midtown scene in a white BMW that night. The track also included lines about shooting "like I'm Brady" and waving a pistol, imagery that prosecutors referenced during Green's arraignment.

Boyd, 29, was out with teammates Jamien Sherwood and Irvin Charles when a group outside the restaurant Sei Less started mocking their clothes. The players briefly went inside before returning to the street, where the group kept chirping. Moments later, shots were fired and Boyd collapsed.

Investigators say Green chopped off his hair, ditched his phone, and hid out at a girlfriend's apartment in Buffalo. When U.S. Marshals found him on Monday, prosecutors say he even tried to jump out a window. Police tracked him through a second vehicle, a gray Mercedes tied to his girlfriend.

Boyd remains in critical but stable condition and may need additional surgery. Doctors found a bullet fragment lodged in his lung.

Green has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was held without bail. Court records show four prior arrests, most of them sealed.

The investigation is ongoing.
