The Denver Broncos' preseason broadcast team learned a hard lesson Saturday. Namely, don't believe everything you see on social media. (Or probably even more than half of what you see.)

Anyway, during the third quarter of Denver's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, the locally produced telecast ran a graphic featuring a supposed quote from Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons. The quote, attributed to Parsons' podcast, claimed the All-Pro linebacker had called Denver his "dream destination" and praised the Broncos' defense as "the best in the league" with "a real chance at a Super Bowl."
It made for a clean graphic and even fueled an on-air segment. Only one problem — Parsons never said it.
The quote originated from an X user who fabricated the comment, complete with a slick graphic designed to look authentic. A quick check would have revealed the truth: Parsons' podcast has not released a new episode in six months.
The linebacker has not publicly named any team as a preferred destination, though he did recently request a trade from Dallas and made vague comments about possibly teaming with another player.
Instead, the Broncos' broadcast turned the fake post into live television, a mistake that spread quickly online once viewers pointed out the error.
I had to dig up this clip to make sure it was 100% real and the clip makes it even funnier. They had a whole report set up and everything for something Micah Parsons never said.
Broncos producers should be embarrassed. I’m cackling. https://t.co/5Z1l4TsrG2 pic.twitter.com/kYdUcaD8Xs

This is not the first time a viral quote has duped a professional organization, but given the ease with which the hoax could have been debunked, it may be one of the more embarrassing examples.
Parsons has remained quiet about where he would like to land, and Denver is not known to be on any shortlist. For the Broncos, the bigger storyline Saturday may have been on the field — but their broadcast booth supplied the blooper reel.
