Shedeur Sanders is settling into life as the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback, and he is well aware of the people who have backed him from the beginning. That includes the president.

Sanders met with reporters on Wednesday ahead of Cleveland's Week 13 matchup with the 49ers and was asked about Donald Trump's continued praise on social media. Trump celebrated Sanders again this week after the rookie became the first Browns quarterback since 1995 to win his debut.
"He's definitely been a supporter for a minute," Sanders said. "I'm just thankful for him even taking time out of his day to speak out and support."
Trump has been unusually vocal about Sanders since before the draft, repeatedly questioning why NFL teams passed on the former Colorado star and calling him a player who "should be picked immediately by a team that wants to win."
Sanders ultimately slid to the fifth round, and Trump remained in his corner through the entire process.
Now Sanders is coming off a 24-10 win over the Raiders in Week 12, throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown in his first NFL start. He will make his second straight start on Sunday, and he has already made it clear that he refuses to get comfortable.
Sanders has talked often about wanting to exceed expectations, stack good weeks and grow into a long-term role in Cleveland.
The noise around him has already ramped up. Some of it has been praise, some of it has been criticism and some of it has been flat-out strange.
But Sanders, at least, knows exactly who had his back from the beginning.
