Browns' Shedeur Sanders on second start: 'I always want to exceed expectations'

Shedeur Sanders will make his second straight start for the Browns this week, and while he has settled in with more first-team reps, he wants everyone to know he is not getting comfortable. Not even close.

Sanders met with reporters on Wednesday and said the added time with the starters has helped him feel more at home in the offense, but he also stressed that nothing in the NFL is guaranteed.

"I'm definitely not comfortable, so that's first and foremost that I have another opportunity to go out there," Sanders said, via Pro Football Talk. "In life, you have to understand how quickly things come or how long they come.

"It could be taken at any point in time. I'm never comfortable in a situation I'm in. I always want to exceed expectations and always want to grow.

"Each and every week I want to put out a better product and be a better version of myself for the team."

Sanders earned the job after Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion in Week 11, and he made the most of his debut by leading Cleveland to a 24-10 win over the Raiders.

His second start comes at an important moment in the season and an important moment for the franchise.

The Browns will face significant decisions at quarterback heading into 2026. Sanders can put himself firmly in the middle of that conversation if he continues to progress over the next few weeks.

For now, he is focused on stacking reps and avoiding even the hint of complacency as he tries to solidify his place in Cleveland's long-term plans.
