Sean McDermott didn't stay unemployed long. Sort of.

Tampa Bay wasted no time reaching out to the ex-Bills coach after Buffalo dropped the axe. According to Fox Sports, the Bucs connected with McDermott about a possible spot on Todd Bowles' staff.
Didn't happen.
The 51-year-old is expected to take the year off and reset for 2027. Probably a smart move after the way things ended in Buffalo.
McDermott was booted after nine seasons, the final blow coming in a gut-punch overtime loss to the Broncos in the Divisional Round. That one dropped his playoff record to a perfectly mid 8-8. It also lit a fire under Bills Mafia, who didn't exactly take the news quietly.
There's some history between McDermott and Tampa. He worked with GM Jason Licht back in their Philly days. That connection sparked interest, but it wasn't enough to pull McDermott back in this fast.
The Bucs are doing their own reset after going 8-9 and missing the playoffs for the first time in six years. They canned OC Josh Grizzard and swiped Zac Robinson from the Falcons to run the offense.
Meanwhile, Buffalo moved on, too. They bumped Joe Brady from OC to head coach, giving Josh Allen his guy after another frustrating postseason exit.
McDermott will have options. He just doesn't seem in a rush to pick one.
There were 10 head coaching vacancies this cycle. Now only the Cardinals and Raiders remain open, with Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak reportedly in the mix for both.
