ESPN analyst questions Cam Newton’s leadership: “Cam’s not well liked by a lot of his teammates”

We're hearing this again.

Cam Newton is one of the best players in the game — he was 2015's NFL MVP — and he without a doubt gives the Carolina Panthers a great chance to win any contest. With that said, ESPN and SEC Network analyst Booger McFarland recently related that perhaps not all is well in Carolina regarding Newton's standing with his teammates.

Speaking with Ross Tucker on SiriusXM NFL Radio, McFarland said that his sources in Carolina are telling him that Newton isn't the most well-liked player in the locker room. He also criticized his leadership.

"People I talk to in Carolina tell me Cam's not a leader and not well liked by a lot of his teammates," McFarland said.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time that Newton's likeability has come under scrutiny, but the last time something like this came up it was Steve Smith frustrated with Newton, and that was because of his on-field play.

All indications, at least from an outside perspective, are that Newton is a fun-loving, talented quarterback who has done a lot to make his team one of the top contenders in the NFL. Sure, he's had some potential maturity issues in the past, and not everyone is crazy about the "dab", but this report doesn't seem to have much weight behind it.
