Colin Kaepernick Still Eyeing NFL Return, Hasn't Stopped Training Since 2016 In Hopes Of Getting Picked Up By A Team

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last played in the NFL during the 2016 season, and now eight years later he still hasn't given up on his hopeful return to the league.

The narrative all along has been Kaepernick feeling that he has been blackballed by the 32 NFL owners, after he kneeled during the national anthems before games by a way of protesting police brutality and social inequality, but he won't give up.

That is to say, Kaepernick, who previously played six seasons with the 49ers, spoke with Sky Sports News in an interview about his never-ending aspirations to make a comeback.

"I think I could bring a lot to a team, and help them win a championship... We just gotta get one of these team owners to open up," Kaepernick said.

The 36-year-old noted that his training has continued ever since his last snap, and that he's been ready to play, even saying that he can help a team win a Super Bowl.

With Kaepernick claiming that he can still be an impactful player, many might remember his iconic run during the 2012 NFL season.

Notably, Kaepernick led the 49ers to a Super Bowl (XLVII) as he came up short in the 34-31 loss, despite throwing for 302 yards with a touchdown and interception, in addition to running for 62 yards on the ground as well as scoring a rushing touchdown.

Ultimately, Kaepernick has been vying for a return to the gridiron, as he said if it finally happens, "would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me."
