During the 2013 NFL season, an investigation was conducted against Miami Dolphins lineman Richie Incognito after his former teammate Jonathan Martin accused him of harassment and bullying.

That is, now more than a decade later, Martin is backtracking on those accusations, as he says "Bullygate" was a lie.
"I never believed for a second I was being bullied," Martin told ESPN in a recent published story that has shed new light on the past media frenzy scandal.
"It's a story that I've been trying to fix for 10 years."
He couldn’t cut it in the NFL so he quit and his mom blamed me. Legacy media pushed this narrative long and far. Too bad it was all a lie! They lied to protect his money. He quit… the team had every right to claw back that money. His mom started the bullying narrative with @espn… https://t.co/ifFFJPG1H7

Following this latest revelation, Incognito has been going on a social media tirade.
The now 41-year-old has specifically called out Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio and ESPN's Adam Schefter, for how they portrayed him in their original publishing of the controversial story.
"You tried to ruin my career over a lie"... "You tried to ruin my life over this bulls***," Incogito told the sportswriters on X.
You tried to ruin my career over a lie! A decade later Jonathan Martin admits he was never bullied. His mother pushed the narrative of bullying to the media. Jonathan Martin never believed in the stance his camp was taking during the Ted Wells investigation. The NFL and the media… https://t.co/DxHrLOEWsk

Although Martin has switched up on his original stance of labeling Incognito as a "bully," many fans do attribute the four-time Pro Bowler to showing behavior patterns that resemble bullying (per the NFL's 144-page investigative report).
As Incognito has also been accused of being racist to team trainers, molesting a volunteer at an annual golf tournament, and overall using derogatory language, subjecting others to verbal harassment.
To give some insight, many might remember the long voicemail that was recorded, which caught Incognito leaving a degrading message to Martin a year after he was drafted.

"Hey, wassup, you half n——- piece of s—-. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. [I want to] s—- in your f—-ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your f—-ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F—- you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."
