Beckham took part in a workout with the team and then signed a contract. This set him up to compete for a spot on the roster entering training camp later this summer.

Of course, this reunion sparked numerous reactions among members of the fanbase. Some applauded the decision to bring back the former LSU receiver while others questioned the move.

  • "Hell yeah! OBJ is back where it all started!** Welcome home, Odell. The Giants offense just got a whole lot more fun. Let's see that vintage swagger in Big Blue again. This is the reunion a lot of us have been waiting for." (Source)
  • "Giants signing obj at this stage is heavy nostalgia but the body has miles and the prime explosiveness is long gone nice story for the fans and locker room but unless its a team friendly deal this feels more pr than game changer hope he balls out though the story writes itself." (Source)

If Beckham beats out the other players in contention and makes the final 53-man roster, he will have an opportunity. He can try to pass Joe Morrison and Kyle Rote on the team's all-time list of receiving touchdowns.

Beckham is currently fourth with 44 touchdowns. Morrison is third with 47 touchdowns, and Rote is second with 48. Amani Toomer is the Giants' all-time leader with 54 receiving touchdowns.
