Per multiple reports, Jameis Winston has jumped Russell Wilson on New York's quarterback depth chart and is now positioned as the No. 2 behind Jaxson Dart, who remains in concussion protocol.

With Dart still sidelined, Winston is expected to start this week against the Green Bay Packers.

It'll be Winston's first action in a Giants uniform. The veteran quarterback started seven games for the Cleveland Browns last season and is now in line to make his Giants debut under interim head coach Mike Kafka, who took over this week following the firing of Brian Daboll.

Wilson, meanwhile, has struggled mightily since joining the Giants, making Kafka's first major move an unsurprising one. The team is hoping Winston's experience and arm talent can bring some life to an offense that's lacked rhythm and confidence all season.

The Giants still view Dart as the long-term answer at quarterback, but protecting him remains the top priority. Kafka made it clear in his opening press conference that getting the offense moving again is his focus — and that means giving Winston the keys while Dart recovers.

New York is 2-8 following Sunday's loss against the Bears. That record ties the Giants with the New Orleans Saints as the worst in the NFC and better only than the Tennessee Titans (1-8) in all of the NFL.
