With Ryan Fitzpatrick performing his FitzMagic, leading the NFL in passing yards through Week 2, the original starting Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback just got sued by the Uber driver for the alleged incident that led to his original suspension.
A female Uber driver in Arizona, identified as "Kate P." in the court documents, is seeking more than $75,000 in damages, stating Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston allegedly grabbed her crotch in the drive-thru of a Mexican restaurant in the Phoenix area in March 2016, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
In plainest terms, before the final game of Winston's three-game suspension, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is being sued and accused of sexual assault.
Winston, the 6-foot-4 veteran signal caller and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner at Florida State, was already facing an uphill climb having to win his teammates over after Fitzpatrick led the Bucs to wins over the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles, throwing for 819 yards with eight touchdowns.
It just got even more difficult and complicated with the civil lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court of Arizona.
This all comes on the heels of the NFL's eight-month investigation that determined Winston touched the woman "in an inappropriate and sexual manner without her consent" and led to a three-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
The 24-year-old Winston has not been criminally charged for the incident.
"She is unimpressed by his continued lack of honesty or awareness into his behavior. Maybe a more direct financial penalty will get his attention. He needs to learn from this and have some genuine insight or pay the penalty. Only time will tell what will happen with the lawsuit involving the alleged incident after a night at the International Club in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2016, but this news certainly doesn't help his chances to win back Tampa Bay's starting quarterback job anytime soon.
