Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Wednesday it was an "intense day" inside the building after New York made two franchise-altering trades after a 1-7 start.

New York shipped out All-Pro corner Sauce Gardner to the Colts and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys for a haul that included three first-round picks. GM Darren Mougey said Tuesday the offers were simply too strong to turn down. Glenn repeated it Wednesday and stressed this was not the original plan.
"We didn't go into the year planning to move either player," Glenn told reporters. "But this is a league of change and we have to make decisions for the long-term success of this organization."
Glenn was also asked what he'd say to a fanbase staring at a 15-year playoff drought and now watching two franchise cornerstones get dealt mid-season.
"I want this to be a team that the fans are proud of," Glenn said. "Not today, necessarily — but at some point. I've said it before. I'll still say it. This is a team that the fans will be proud of.
"I'm not going to get into the patience crap. Our guys are working. We're going to continue to work. Don't let go of the rope."
Breece Hall already reacted publicly, saying he was happy for Sauce and Quinnen while admitting he felt "sick" about what this means for the Jets.
New York hosts Cleveland on Sunday, but most eyes will be on the future — and whether the front office can cash in that mountain of draft capital.
