The Detroit Lions defeated the Seattle Seahawks 42-29 on Monday Night Football, as quarterback Jared Goff, who was perfect on the night, broke an NFL record by not throwing one incomplete pass all game (18 completions on 18 attempts for 296 yards and two touchdowns).
Apparently not everyone agreed that Goff was the Player of the Game, as head coach Dan Campbell said he didn't give the Lions quarterback the game ball.
Reporter: “Can you talk about Jared Goff’s performance? He was a perfect 18-for-18.”
Dan Campbell: “Well, I just gave the game ball to somebody else - so I feel awful right now.” 😂😂😂

"I just gave the game ball to somebody else," Campbell said postgame. "So, I feel awful right now... I knew he [Goff] played a heck of a game - I did not realize he was perfect. I did not know he was literally 18 for 18."
Evidently, the game ball went to two other Lions players, safety Kerby Joseph (one interception) and receiver Jameson Williams (two catches for 80 yards, including a 70-yard TD).
Although Joseph and Williams had good performances, anytime a quarterback completes 100% of their passes in the NFL it is such a rarity, that Campbell knows he made a big mistake.
In view of the previous perfect completions record in a game, Arizona Cardinals Kurt Warner went 10-for-10 vs. Houston in a 30-19 loss (2005).
"It's a cool thing," Goff said on breaking the NFL record. "I'm just happy we got the win."
Even more reason for him to get the game ball, Goff actually caught his first career touchdown pass from wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on a trick play during the third quarter.

Through four games this season, Goff has thrown 1,015 yards (71% completion rate), to go with five touchdowns and four interceptions.
The Lions have improved to 3-1, and will look to build on their success after they come back from their Bye Week, as their next game will be played on October 13 (4:25 pm ET) vs. the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
