The Washington Commanders secured their spot in the NFC Championship by defeating the Detroit Lions 45-31 on Saturday night. The Philadelphia Eagles then survived against the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 on Sunday afternoon to take the other spot.

The pivotal playoff game will take place on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. ET. This will be the Fox game, so it will feature Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady in the booth.

The NFC East rivals will now play for a third time this season to determine which team will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. The Eagles will host the game considering that they entered the playoffs as the No. 2 seed. The Commanders entered the playoffs as the No. 6 seed.

The Eagles are no stranger to the NFC Championship. Philly has reached this game eight times since 2000. They have advanced to the Super Bowl three times and won the Super Bowl once (2017). The Eagles lost the NFC Championship four other times.

Head coach Nick Sirianni has had his moments in the spotlight for reasons other than football — such as arguments with fans — but he has coached the Eagles to the playoffs all four seasons of his tenure. One of these campaigns ended with a Super Bowl loss.

The Commanders enter the penultimate playoff weekend in an entirely different situation. The NFC East team has not reached the conference championship since the 1991 season when they beat the Lions. The following seven playoff appearances ended in either the wild-card or divisional rounds.

This season has featured an entirely different Commanders team. Rookie Jayden Daniels partnered with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and hit the ground running as he led the team to a 12-5 record.

Head coach Dan Quinn, the eighth and final coach hired before the season, turned the team around after a 4-13 campaign and put it into Super Bowl contention.
