Giants trick fans during Chiefs game with 'Taylor cam'

The New York Giants have pulled a trick on NFL fans. They broke out the "Taylor cam" during a matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, but showed a different person.

Footage on X showed a camera moving through the crowd while Taylor Swift's "Welcome to New York" played over the loudspeakers. The logo on the bottom of the screen showed this to be the "Taylor cam." Yet, it did not focus on Swift.

Instead, the camera showed Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, who relaxed in the stands while smoking a cigar. Once the camera showed the former Giants defender, the audio switched to AC/DC's "Back in Black."

As expected, the Giants faithful went wild after seeing one of the franchise's greatest players. Taylor responded by doing a little dance and mouthing "Thank you" to the crowd.

The NFL has made a point to highlight Swift since she and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce began dating. Every time she attends a game, the broadcast repeatedly focuses on her.

Did Kelce catch a pass for a first down? Zoom in on Swift. Did the offense score a touchdown? How did Swift celebrate in the suite? Did a back-breaking turnover stop a promising drive? Quick, focus on Swift to see her reaction!

This emphasis on the musical artist has split viewers. Some appreciate the attention placed on Swift, as well as the way she and Kelce have brought in new fans. Other people, who remain vocal on social media, are over the whole "Taylor cam" experience.

The Giants didn't win at home against the Chiefs as Russell Wilson and the offense struggled. However, they scored some points with the latter group by breaking out their own "Taylor cam" and highlighting a 10-time Pro Bowl defender.

The choice of Taylor remains fitting considering the impact he made on the franchise. He joined the team as the second overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft, and he went on to become one of the most successful players in NFL history.

The Virginia native helped Big Blue win two Lombardi Trophies, and he secured All-Pro honors eight times. He also won MVP in 1986. His stat line includes 142 sacks, nine interceptions, 11 fumble returns, and two interception returns for touchdowns.
