The Dallas Cowboys emerge from the bye week squarely in the mix in the NFC, coming out of the bye week at 4-2, but it doesn't sound like Jerry Jones is going to be actively shopping for upgrades ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
One day after the Cowboys' division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, acquired All-Pro safety Kevin Byard to fill one of its few pressing roster needs, Jones revealed he'll pick up the phone but won't be the one initiating trade talks in coming days.
"The initiation of an opportunity to make a trade at this time that would help us principally," Jones said during an appearance on Dallas' 105.3 FM The Fan. "has to start over the other end. I like where we are with our personnel today."
Despite entering Week 8 of the season in second place in the NFC East, the Cowboys have had some holes to fill, and approximately $7 million in cap space to deploy on any moves made ahead of the October 31 trade deadline.
Even if the Cowboys don't initiate trade talks, it will be fascinating to see if Dallas winds up being buys, especially for quality depth at the wide receiver position,,or a top cornerback to replace Trevon Diggs.
Cornerback could be a top market to watch for the Cowboys, especially with matchups looming against top wide receivers such as Philadelphia's A.J. Brown, Seattle's Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf, Miami's Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, among others, down the stretch of the regular season that could make or break Dallas' playoff chances.

But, despite behind handed a 42-10 shellacking by the San Francisco 49ers, Jones sounds confident in the roster the Cowboys entered the season with.
"We belong in the upper echelons," Jones told 105.3 The Fan. "I'm not gonna say we belong on the field with San Fran & we haven't played Philly. I'm anticipating Philadelphia being what they look like. So I don't want to go that far. But we're in the upper echelon."
