Stafford signed a one-year contract extension on Thursday that guarantees he will be back under center. This deal is worth $55 million.

The 38-year-old had played out the final years of his restructured deal, and he had delivered in a major way. He took the Rams to the NFC championship game after throwing for 4,707 passing yards and 46 passing touchdowns with only eight interceptions.

Stafford won league MVP for the first time in his career, and he shut down any questions about his future when he accepted the award during NFL Honors. He thanked his daughters for their support and confirmed that he will continue to play in Southern California.

"Chandler, Sawyer, Hunter, Tyler — I'm so happy to teach the blessings and the lessons of this game to you guys, through you guys," Stafford said to his daughters.

"You're unbelievable cheerleaders for me. I appreciate it. I am so happy to have you at the games on the sidelines with me, and I can't wait for you to cheer me on next year when we're out there kicking ass. So I'll see you guys next year. Hopefully, I'm not at this event, and we're getting ready for another game at SoFi (Stadium)."

The former first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Stafford spent the first 12 years of his career with the Detroit Lions. He threw for 45,109 yards, 282 touchdowns, and 144 interceptions. He went 74-90-1 as a starter, and he led the team to the playoffs three times.

Stafford moved to the Rams in 2021 via a trade also involving Jared Goff. He led the team to a 12-5 record in the regular season and then he led it to a Super Bowl win over the Bengals.

The Georgia native has remained the starting quarterback of the Rams ever since, and he has gone 46-28 as a starter. He has gone 7-3 in the playoffs with the Rams.

Now that Stafford has his new deal in place, he will aim to build on these numbers. He will try to get the Rams back to the Super Bowl before calling it a career.
