Sean McVay adds 'some swag' with sideline injury against Titans

The Los Angeles Rams sustained some injuries during a 33-19 win over the Tennessee Titans. One of the most surprising involves head coach Sean McVay.

The Super Bowl-winning coach injured his foot at some point while leading the Rams to a 2-0 start.

"Foot's good," McVay said in the opening segment of his "Coach McVay Show" on Monday. "I did tear my plantar fascia, so yeah. Well, that's a good thing, because I guess it allows you to heal a little faster.

"But I was being dramatic, limping around towards the end of the game, but the MRI confirmed I did that. Good news is I'm not playing. I'm just on the sidelines watching, so if I have a little cool limp to add some swag, then you'll know why."

McVay appeared in good spirits while filming the Rams-produced show, so co-host J.B. Long threw in a small joke after hearing the injury news.

He said that "all these years, we've been worried about your hamstrings" due to the way McVay moves down the sidelines to call timeout. Ultimately, the coach's foot caused him to land on an injury report.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the plantar fascia is the thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. It runs along the bottom of each foot. A common ailment is plantar fasciitis, which causes stabbing pains in the bottom of the feet.

McVay's injury is a bit more serious than the common plantar fasciitis, but he did not say whether he will require any modified footwear as he heals.

McVay did not exit the week as the only coach to make headlines on the sideline. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel also had some time in the spotlight after the CBS Sports cameras captured him sprinting down the sidelines as Antonio Gibson returned a kick 90 yards for a touchdown. This gave the Patriots the lead for good against the rival Dolphins.
