The NFL initiated a review of the application of the concussion protocol involving Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart during last night’s game against the Eagles. That review will be conducted jointly with the NFLPA under the parties’ collective bargaining agreement.

Dart, the rookie quarterback who has quickly revitalized New York's offense, left the game in the third quarter after being sacked by multiple defenders. Trainers attended to him on the field, and he was sent to the sideline to be evaluated for a possible concussion. Russell Wilson replaced him for a short stretch — and was greeted by a chorus of boos from Giants fans — before Dart was cleared to return.
On Friday, the league confirmed that it will conduct a joint review with the NFL Players Association to determine whether the Giants followed concussion protocol properly.
The hit in question didn't appear to be severe, and Dart's helmet didn't hit the turf, suggesting the concussion spotter may have been acting out of an abundance of caution. Still, the NFL routinely reviews such incidents, and fines have been issued in the past when teams failed to follow all required steps.

If any lapses are found, the Giants could face discipline.
Dart finished the night completing 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown, adding 58 yards and another score on the ground in the Giants' 34-17 upset win at MetLife Stadium. Since taking over for Wilson as the starter, the rookie has gone 2-1 and injected some much-needed life into the Giants' season.
