The time has come for NFL fans to begin booking hotels for an important event. The NFL has set the official date for Super Bowl 62, which will close out the 2027 season.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Super Bowl 62 will take place on Feb. 13, 2028. This game will pit the AFC champion and the NFC champion against each other while Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, serves as the host site.
The 2027 season will mark the second consecutive time that the Super Bowl will take place later in February than in past seasons. Super Bowl 61, which will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, will happen on Feb. 14, 2027. ESPN will provide coverage for the championship game.

The Super Bowl moving deeper into February has seemed inevitable as NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has expressed a desire to further expand the schedule.
The NFL expanded the regular-season schedule to 17 games in 2021, and he has expressed an interest in adding an 18th game moving forward. This deal has not yet happened as the NFL Players Association and the league have not worked out a deal.
"We have not had any formal discussions about it and frankly very little of any informal conversations," Goodell said ahead of Super Bowl 60.
"It is not a given that we will do that. It's not something we assume will happen. It's something we want to talk about with the union leadership."
While the NFL hasn't yet expanded its regular-season schedule, it has created a ripple effect by moving the Super Bowl deeper into February.
This has particularly affected the NASCAR Cup Series, which kicks off its season every February with the Daytona 500. This crown jewel race took place on Feb. 15, 2026, but the 2027 iteration will move one week later in 2027.
Next year's Daytona 500 will be on Feb. 21, 2027. The 2028 iteration will likely also move with the NFL setting the date for Super Bowl 62.
"We want to avoid the Super Bowl, for sure," Now-former NASCAR CEO Steve Phelps said in October 2025. "Fairly large event with some viewers (smiling).
"Listen, they are an amazing product, they're an amazing league. The Daytona 500 is our Super Bowl. Again, creating some distance and not overlap is something that we'll continue to make sure that we do."
