After making an effort to catch an inaccurate pass from rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell, Adams was brought to the ground by Chargers' defensive back Michael Davis. Adams' right shoulder violently met the turf, causing the veteran receiver to exit the game.

Adams' was seen shortly after walking into the tunnel with team trainers, not moving his right arm. The Raiders have listed Adams as questionable to return against the Chargers at the time this article is being published.
The 30-year-old receiver is coming off of one of his best statistical performances as a Raider putting up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers. The Raiders lost that game 23-18 and after the game, Adams expressed his disappointment with the Raiders' 0-3 start to the season.
"It's week 3, but I don't have time to wait around," Adams said. "It's not a personal thing, I mean, it is a personal thing, but it's not just about me. It's not my mentality to sit here and try to take all season and figure it out."
The way that Adams' shoulder dug into the turf is eerily reminiscent of the way that former Raiders and current Saints quarterback, Derek Carr, went down last week against the Packers. Carr missed the remainder of the game against the Packers but was active for the Saints game today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Raiders are already dealing with injury trouble early on in the 2023 season. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a concussion last week, causing O'Connell to replace him against the Chargers. Additionally, pro-bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby was dealing with a knee injury this week but was active for Sunday's game.
The Raiders are feeling the harms of these injuries through the first half against the Chargers. At the end of the first half, the Raiders are currently trailing 24-7. If the Chargers hold on to the lead, the Raiders will be 0-4 to start the 2023 season. Next week, they'll host the Packers on Monday night.
