According to Deadline, sources familiar with the ongoing negotiations say that YouTube TV submitted a revised proposal over the weekend as countless fans missed out on a packed slate of college football. This revised proposal did not lead to an immediate resolution as ESPN channels remained absent from the YouTube TV platform.
This continued standoff means that many NFL fans will not have the opportunity to watch the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers face off in a pivotal NFC matchup on Monday night.
With the standoff nearing two full weeks, sports fans continue to voice frustrations. Those who remain subscribers to YouTube TV don't have the ability to watch some of the biggest games on the schedule. Yes, they could leave the platform for one of the numerous other streaming platforms, but many of these users have said they don't want to deal with this hassle.
YouTube TV has reached out to subscribers after they missed the second week of college football. The streamer said that it would issue a $20 credit while making good on a promise made before the Disney blackout began.
"Over the next few days, you will receive a follow-up email with instructions on how to redeem your $20 credit for YouTube TV," the streamer said in an email. "Once redeemed, this will be applied to your next bill."
As a point of clarity, YouTube TV will not automatically apply this credit to the user accounts. Each subscriber must go to the website and claim the credit.
This extended dispute has not benefited anyone. Sports fans haven't been able to watch major games across multiple leagues. YouTube TV has lost subscribers. Disney has fallen into a position where it will lose around $50 million.
The NFL has also dealt with some problems. The league saw the ratings for last week's Monday night game fall 21% year-over-year. This game featured the Dallas Cowboys, a team that always delivers strong numbers for broadcast partners.
