The Seattle Seahawks put on a historic performance on Sunday evening, one that led to a dominant 29-13 Super Bowl 60 win over the New England Patriots.

The Seahawks, who won the NFC after capturing the No. 1 seed, entered the matchup against the Patriots with the top scoring defense and the sixth-best overall defense in the NFL.

This team backed up the ranking by sacking Patriots quarterback Drake Maye seven times. The defense also forced three turnovers by Maye. All three turnovers led to points in a hard-fought game.

The first interception set up Sam Darnold's touchdown pass to AJ Barner. The second turnover was a fumble on a sack. Byron Murphy II recovered the ball and put the Seahawks offense back on the field.

This ultimately led to a field goal by Jason Myers, who set a Super Bowl record with five successful field goal attempts.

The third interception, which proved to be the backbreaker, went for a touchdown. Devon Witherspoon hit Maye's throwing arm on a blitz. The ball popped up into the air, and Uchenna Nwosu grabbed it for the interception. He raced untouched to the end zone for a defensive score.

The defenders were not the only ones who showed up in primetime. Running back Kenneth Walker III had himself a night. He rushed 27 times for 135 yards, the most rushing yards in a Super Bowl since Terrell Davis ran for 157 yards in Super Bowl 32.

Walker, who added 26 receiving yards, kept the offense moving throughout the night even while facing a stifling Patriots defense. He earned Super Bowl MVP honors for his efforts.

Sure, the Seahawks didn't have a perfect performance. The defense gave up two touchdown passes to Maye — one to Mack Hollins and one to Rhamondre Stevenson. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold only completed 50% of his throws for 202 yards and one touchdown.

Yet, the team didn't need to be perfect. It just needed to deliver when the lights were the brightest. That's exactly what the Seahawks did in its first Super Bowl appearance since the 2014 season.

The NFC West team won its second Lombardi Trophy in its fourth Super Bowl appearance. It also got some revenge for Super Bowl 49, the game where Patriots defender Malcolm Butler intercepted Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson at the goal line to secure the win.
