Olympic Chinese Badminton Player Huang Yaqiong Gets Proposed To By Teammate After Winning Gold Medal

The 2024 Olympics are being held in Paris, which means there is love in the air, especially for the Chinese badminton team, as Huang Yaqiong got more than a gold medal after winning the mixed doubles competition at the Adidas Arena in Paris on Friday.

Yaqiong along with teammate Zheng Siwei defeated South Korea's Kim Wonho and Jeong Naeun (21-8, 21-11) to win the Olympic tournament.

After Yaqiong was going through her medal ceremony, another Chinese badminton player, Liu Yuchen, got down on one knee to surprise her.

The proposal was caught on live TV, as the world was able to witness Yaqiong win a gold medal and get engaged all at the same time.

One thing is for certain, no one will want to challenge this power couple to a game of badminton as Liu is also a standout badminton player in his own right, winning a silver medal in the men's doubles competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and competing at the Paris Games as well.

To point out, there was also another engagement that took place in the 'City of Love' as a handball player from Argentina, Pablo Simonet, proposed to his girlfriend, Maria Campoy, who is an Olympic field hockey athlete.
