Dale Earnhardt Jr. is returning to the NASCAR track! Back in May, Dale Jr. announced that he would be running in the 2021 Go Bowling 250 at Richmond Raceway on September 11. And, since that race will also fall on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Junior will also be sporting a special paint scheme to honor the victims.

In a video tweeted out by JR Motorsports on May 4, Earnhardt, who is teaming up with longtime partner Unilever, revealed the United for America paint scheme that he will sport on his No. 8 Chevrolet. The car's blue-and-white scheme will mirror the 9/11 Memorial and Museum's Tribute in Light, an art installation in New York City that was created in remembrance of the September 11 attacks.
Earnhardt's paint scheme will feature four spotlights, which represent the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the Flight 93 Memorial site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The words "Never Forget" will appear on the lower-rear quarter panel.

"This year, I'll be running the 'United for America' paint scheme in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond," Earnhardt says in the video. "This race is on Sept. 11, a date that lives forever in our hearts and in our minds. Not just for the unimaginable tragedy we experienced, but for the way our country united."
"Today we face new challenges that test the resolve of our nation, which means the lessons of 9/11 are as important today as they were 20 years ago. Those lessons: to unite, to take care of each other, support our frontline heroes and commit to helping our communities recover, rebuild and reimagine their futures."
In an official JR Motorsports release, Earnhardt added, "It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since that terrible day. The spirit of unity and togetherness our country felt on Sept. 11 is just as relevant now as it was then. I'm honored to be driving this car and championing Unilever's United for America program."
We can't wait to see Dale back on the track. Good luck out there, Junior!
