According to a Thursday announcement, Brazilian driver Rafael Camara has signed a multi-year deal to join TGR Haas F1 Team. The 21-year-old will compete full-time while making the move up to Formula 1, and he will become the second Brazilian on the grid. The other is Gabriel Bortoleto.

Camara has competed in single-seat race cars since 2022 when he joined the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.

He has proven himself behind the wheel while winning the Formula Regional European Championship in 2024 and the F3 Drivers' Championship in 2025.

The Brazilian currently leads the F2 driver standings by seven points. He has an opportunity to win his third consecutive championship before moving up to F1 and joining TGR Haas F1 Team.

Camara already has some experience in the previous F1 car. He tested for TGR Haas F1 Team at Portimao in August.

"I'm very happy to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team as a Formula 1 driver," the young driver said in a press release. "It's an important step in my career and I want to thank Gene Haas (team owner) and Ayao Komatsu (Haas Team Principal) for the trust they have placed in me.

"I'm also very grateful to the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy for their support and for everything they have contributed to my development over the years, as well as to my family for always being there throughout this journey.

"Now my focus is on preparing myself in the best possible way for this new challenge. There will be a lot to learn, and I'm looking forward to working closely with the team, understanding the car and continuing to develop as a driver."

TGR Haas F1 Team has not officially confirmed its full lineup for 2027, but the expectation is that Ollie Bearman will return. He has outperformed Ocon, a veteran of the sport, this season while scoring 23 points.
