As previously announced, the NTT IndyCar Series teams will head to Spain in 2027 to compete at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This will mark the first event outside of North America since Brazil in 2013.
To make room for Barcelona — and also get the schedule back to 17 events — IndyCar has removed both the Music City Grand Prix and the Freedom 250 from the schedule. Teams will not compete at Nashville Superspeedway or on the streets of Washington D.C.
The IndyCar teams have raced at Nashville Superspeedway 10 times thus far. The Lebanon track hosted eight races between 2001-08 before disappearing from the schedule. It then returned for 2025 and 2026 after the series stopped competing on the streets of Nashville.
"With the 2027 NTT IndyCar Series schedule now confirmed without an event in Nashville, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the loyal and passionate IndyCar fans who have been part of the Music City Grand Prix journey," a statement on the event's social media account said.

"From the beginning, your enthusiastic support has helped make the Music City Grand Prix a special and unique destination on the racing calendar. You turned race weekends into unforgettable celebrations and helped create an atmosphere that was uniquely Nashville.
"The moments and milestones we've shared together will always be remembered fondly and have helped create new race fans in Middle Tennessee and beyond."
While the Music City Grand Prix enjoyed several spots on the IndyCar calendar, the Freedom 250 became a high-profile one-off event. This race took place on the streets of Washington D.C. as part of a celebration of America's 250th birthday.
It became a free event created by an executive order from President Donald Trump, and it featured drivers racing around the National Mall while passing such landmarks as the National Archives and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
The original expectation this year was that this would be a one-off event, but comments immediately after created the possibility that it could return in 2027 and beyond. That is no longer the case.
