According to a press release, Michelin will continue to be the Official Tire of IMSA through the 2035 season. Additionally, the company will serve as the entitlement sponsor for several endurance sports car events and the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
The Michelin-sponsored events include the following: The Rolex 24 At Daytona, Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen, Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America, and Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
The company will continue to provide tires for multiple sports car series while continuing a partnership that began in 2019. This includes the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge.
"Since the beginning of our expanded partnership in 2019, Michelin has been more than just a tire supplier — they've been a true strategic partner in helping IMSA elevate the level of competition, innovation, and fan engagement across our platforms," said IMSA CEO Ed Bennett in a press release.
"This extension is a testament to the strength and shared vision of our relationship. Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, as both a world-class racing facility and a symbol of our collaboration, continues to play a central role. It's where our partnership comes to life in a tangible way, and we're proud to continue building on that foundation together."
Having a key tire partner is essential for motorsports series. NASCAR works exclusively with Goodyear while General Tire works with the ARCA Menards Series. Other partnerships include Firestone with the NTT IndyCar Series and Indy NXT.
Pirelli, for comparison, works with several motorsports series. This includes American Rally Association, Formula 1, Canadian Association of Rallysport, McLaren Trophy America, Porsche Club of America, SRO Motorsports of America, the Ginetta Challenge, and TransAm.
This marks the second time that the two organizations have reached an extension. They previously signed an extension in 2023 that pushed the deal through the 2028 season. This extension takes the deal well into the next decade.
