Corey Heim spent his Saturday night competing in a prestigious Late Model race. He didn't get the win at Martinsville Speedway, but he took a punch after a rival team's crew attacked him.

Video footage circulated on Saturday that showed members of Chad Bryant Racing going after Heim by the Martinsville hot dog stand. One man grabbed Heim and punched him in the head area, knocking off his hat.
Other people jumped in and separated the pair, and then one person pushed Heim up against the hot dog stand. The man ran in once again and threw another punch, but he missed and hit the menu.

The altercation continued with yells and more thrown punches, but some law enforcement officers ultimately stepped in and ended it. Though Heim and members of Chad Bryant Racing continued to shout at each other.
The fight stemmed from an on-track incident after the checkered flag flew to end the ValleyStar Credit Union 300. Caden Kvapil won the race and the grandfather clock while Heim and Treyten Lapcevich finished second and third, respectively.
The fireworks began on the cooldown lap. Heim and Lapcevich made contact multiple times while circling the track, and then Heim's car launched into the air. It landed on Lapcevich's car and caused major damage.

Heim made his way back to the pits with a severely damaged car. Lapcevich remained stuck on the track. Once he climbed from his car, he began the long walk to confront his fellow driver. He never reached this point as team owner Chad Bryant stopped him.
"He tried to pin me under the curb and just kept turning left," Heim said after the race, per Short Track Scene. "And then my right front hopped his left front and destroyed a perfectly good race car.
"So I'm upset for that. He looks classy, and I guess we'll keep moving forward. It's not my car, I don't own it, so I'm not mad."
Lapcevich viewed the situation differently. He said after the race that Heim was "running into everyone all night." He said that he was disappointed in the NASCAR driver as a racer and as a person.
The driver said that he did not want to fight Heim after the on-track incident. Yet, members of his team felt differently, which led to Heim taking a punch.
