The three-time Cup Series winner discussed the situation during a Monday appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. He said that they are making progress towards an extension.

"Yeah, yeah, we are going to be fine," Suarez said when asked about the ongoing contract talks. "Obviously, it's not every day that you put a new team together with a new driver, a new crew chief, new people within the team, and the team is as strong right away.

"We have something good going on here. We know that we want to continue together, that we're happy with each other. And we want to continue to win more races and continue to be competitive."

Suarez, a former O'Reilly Auto Parts Series champion, signed a contract with Spire Motorsports in October 2025 while closing out a five-year tenure with Trackhouse Racing.

At the time, the team and Suarez said that this contract included options to extend beyond the 2026 season. They did not provide any further details.

The first season featuring Suarez in the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro has featured the team achieving some success. The veteran driver posted his first top-five finish of the season in the second race and he kept himself in a Chase spot by mostly running inside of the top 20.

Suarez and the No. 7 team scored their first win of the year in a crown jewel race. They took the lead during the fourth and final stage of the Coca-Cola 600 and led 17 laps before the rain brought the race to an end.

Suarez hasn't won since Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, but he and the No. 7 team have posted an average finish of 15.2. This marks a career-best for Suarez, who has previously driven for Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Gaunt Brothers Racing, and Trackhouse Racing.
