Fan Walks Onto Track During NASCAR Race, Gets Arrested

A NASCAR fan made a stunning move on Saturday afternoon. He climbed over the fence at Naval Base Coronado and walked onto the track during the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race.

This fan made the move as the race remained under red flag conditions. The cars sat idle after a 19-car crash broke the wall and created a need for extensive repairs.

This fan walked across the track and up to the window of Sheldon Creed's No. 00 Chevrolet. He then leaned in and talked to Creed for several moments before getting a fist bump.

This fan then hurried his way across the track. He climbed the catchfence while wearing flip flops. He successfully made his way over and then hopped a second fence before moving back into the crowd.

The fan then walked off while giving other fans fist bumps. Although he did not remain out in public for long. Federal agents tracked him down at the Porta Potty.

They arrested him and created questions about the charges he may face. After all, this infraction occurred on a military base, so it's possible he faces far more serious federal charges.

"I think he's wasted," Creed said over the radio after the incident. "I didn't even understand what he was saying."

The Haas Factory Team driver is not the only one who had some comments about this fan. The No. 2 team of Richard Childress Racing provided a play-by-play from multiple vantage points.

"He's laughing and smiling and walking like he's going to get away," crew chief Danny Stockman said over the radio. "He's about ready to get arrested. Giving fist bumps and (expletive)."

The team continued commentating and said that the fan had gone into a porta potty. This then created a conversation about whether the federal agents should tackle the fan while he is in the porta potty or after he exited.

Of course, this is not the first time that a seemingly drunk fan has done something unexpected during a race. One relatively recent incident occurred at Richmond Raceway in 2014. A fan climbed onto the top of the catchfence and sat down. Apparently, it was his birthday.

The most notable incident involving a fan occurred at Watkins Glen International in 2007. A shirtless fan walked onto the track during a red flag. He headed over to Matt Kenseth's car and attempted to obtain an autograph. Kenseth refused, so the fan headed back across the track and climbed off of the racing surface.
