Justin Allgaier has a simple lesson for fellow Champ 4 drivers

AVONDALE, Ariz. — The championship is unlike any other weekend on the NASCAR schedule with all of the surrounding hoopla. As the only driver experienced in this "chaos," Justin Allgaier just hopes his fellow Xfinity Series contenders enjoy it.

"Enjoy the chaos," Allgaier said in response to a question from FanBuzz. "I said on 'The Dale Jr. Download' this week, and I really meant it, and I hope these guys, being their first time here, right, I hope you can enjoy the chaos.

"Because I think sometimes it's really easy to... Look, we're going to answer the same question 37 times this week, right? We are. But I'm okay with that because each one allows you to kind of think about things differently. It allows you to really hone in on, 'Why are we here? What does this mean to you?'

"But I just feel like if I had one piece of advice for all of them — and I told them this — it's like, enjoy the moments."

The four drivers in contention for the championship don't simply show up for practice, qualifying, and the race at Phoenix to close out the season. They have to add in several extra events.

The Championship 4 drivers first take part in a solid day dedicated to media and appearances. Their weekend then continues with more events on Friday, such as Q&A sessions with fans, well as practice.

The Xfinity contenders then close out the weekend with qualifying and the championship race on Saturday. This day also features more events with fans and media members.

This is a seemingly never-ending schedule that could become tiresome, yet Allgaier doesn't view it this way. He knows that this chaos could all disappear from his life without advance warning.

"At some point, you guys aren't going to stand here and ask questions, right," Allgaier said while pointing to the media. "I'm going to be sitting on my couch somewhere going, 'Man, those were the days,' right? And that could be a year from now. That could be 10 years from now. I don't know what that number is.

"But that's not for me to worry about. It's live present in the moment. And the one thing I'm looking forward to the most  —championship or not — and this is going to sound odd, is even more than the championship last year, standing on the stage pre-race. All four of us go out, and we're standing across the stage. There's thousands of fans up there cheering along. There's pyro.

"There's all this stuff, right? That moment is like this... I don't even know how to explain it to you. It's this coolest moment in the world. And yeah, I mean, I just think that we owe it to ourselves, we owe it to everybody around us to really just focus in on the moment."

As a perennial championship contender, Allgaier has experienced this chaos seven times before. This weekend marks the eighth time that he's reached the Championship 4 and stood on that stage at Phoenix Raceway.

Allgaier doesn't know if he will win his second consecutive title on Saturday night, but he certainly knows that he will enjoy every second of this packed weekend. He just hopes that first-time Championship 4 drivers Connor Zilisch, Jesse Love, and Carson Kvapil follow suit.
