Tyrrell, 21, will drive the No. 14 Ram 1500 full-time during the 2026 Craftsman Truck Series season, Kaulig Racing's first in the NASCAR series. He will work with veteran crew chief and NASCAR team owner Bruce Cook.
Tyrrell became the youngest Late Model Stock Car winner in US history when he captured an event at the age of 10. He also won the 2019 CARS Tour Rookie of the Year title.
"Race for the Seat" took drivers from a variety of racing backgrounds and put them behind the wheel of multiple vehicles. This included Legends cars and Late Models.
The 15 competitors also had to take part in challenges outside of the car. This included a fitness challenge, something that ties into Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice's passion. They also filmed commericals and met with media members.
The eighth and final episode of the season featured two main drivers in contention for the biggest prize — a contract with Kaulig Racing and a full-time ride in a national NASCAR series. Tyrrell and Carson Ferguson.
Tyrrell won the season-long title, but Ferguson took an impressive prize of his own by winning the final event at South Boston Speedway. He locked up $50,000 and a start in the No. 25 Ram 1500 for the Truck Series at Martinsville Speedway.
"I'm just overwhelmed. Winning 'Race for the Seat' is something I never in a million years figured would happen," said Tyrrell in a press release. "I came into this hoping to learn a thing or two, grow a bit, and see if I could hang with a bunch of great drivers.
"I'm thankful from the bottom of my heart for my family, for everybody who's been in my corner, and for Ram and Kaulig Racing for this opportunity — taking a chance on a kid that comes from grassroots racing and elevating me to a professional level. I'm gonna work my tail off to make everybody proud."
