Kyle Larson Won't Be Penalized for Post-Race Celebration with Family

Kyle Larson was fresh off climbing from his No. 5 Chevrolet after claiming a dominant victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when his 9-year-old son Owen joined him by his car on the front stretch.

Owen then climbed atop his dad's race car and celebrated his dad's win. It was a great family moment that his son and many others won't soon forget.

That wasn't the biggest concern among fans on social media, however, as the young Larson also appeared to pull on the air deflector rail and rear spoiler according to Andrew Gould from 'The SPUN'.

That concern was later clarified by NASCAR Vice President of Competition Elton Sawyer, who appeared on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio to address the happenings from Las Vegas and confirmed that Larson would not be facing any punishment.

"It's a family sport," Sawyer said via Matt Weaver from Sportsnaut. "And to see Kyle win the race and Owen come running across the infield there, I just thought that was a great moment."

NASCAR has long touted itself as being a family sport and this was just another great example of that.

Larson's car was perfectly fine and passed the post-race technical inspection, but a similar celebration could create problems for the winning car.

"We do want to preserve the vehicle and make sure it gets through the inspection process," Sawyer said. "But in this case, there was no issues there. If we see issues going forward, then we'll get with the teams and the drivers and say, 'Hey, we probably need to look at it from this angle.' But I will say that was a special moment and to see that was great."

Larson's win was dominant and it was satisfying to see him get to celebrate with his son and daughter Aubrey, as he held her during his post-race interview.

Las Vegas was a family celebration for the Larsons and deservedly so.
