NASCAR Netflix Series Releases on Jan. 30

The new NASCAR series on Netflix will be released on Jan. 30.

"NASCAR: Full Speed" is a sports documentary series that will bring an in-depth look at this past season's NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. The series will include five 45-minute episodes where viewers will be able to look behind the scenes of the competition for the Cup Series championship.

The listed drivers who will be featured are:

  • Christopher Bell
  • Ryan Blaney
  • William Byron
  • Ross Chastain
  • Denny Hamlin
  • Kyle Larson
  • Joey Logano
  • Tyler Reddick
  • Bubba Wallace

Hamlin sat down with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the "Dale Jr Download" podcast and talked about his experience with the series.

"My rule of thumb was simple with them. You get everything you want. Every access you want until I say no. When it comes to in the car, on the car, through the fans, into the bus. Short of me going to the bathroom," Hamlin said. "They never put me, in my opinion, in a place where I was uncomfortable with them, so I just gave them all the access they needed."

The series has big names involved as executive producers: Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ben Kennedy, Tim Clark, Matt Summers and Tally Hair, who are all a part of NASCAR Studios. They partnered with co-producers Connor Schell, Libby Geist and Aaron Cohen of Words + Pictures.

Filming took place before the playoffs even started, and that could be seen in the trailer that was released Wednesday — moments such as Ross Chastain's punch on Noah Gragson and Ryan Preece's flip at Daytona. The minute-long teaser should have fans excited for the documentary.

Being released only 19 days before the Daytona 500, the documentary will help fans get excited for the upcoming year of racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. It also will allow the casual fan or someone who isn't a fan to catch a glimpse of what it is really like on and off the track.

This will be NASCAR's second documentary on Netflix, as it released one in 2022 focusing on Bubba Wallace called "Race: Bubba Wallace." This will also be the second year in a row NASCAR has had a film crew do a documentary on the playoffs. "Race for the Championship" was a TV series that followed the playoffs in 2022. The difference was that it aired on USA on a weekly basis throughout the playoffs. There was no streaming source to watch at your convenience, and it happened throughout the end of the season as opposed to being aired right before the start of a new season. That series had positive reviews, so this series hopes to have the same reaction from viewers.

"NASCAR: Full Speed," airing Jan. 30, will be a must-watch for NASCAR fans of all kinds.
