The race weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway will begin with two teams being penalized for inspection failures.

According to a release from NASCAR, the No. 17 Ford Mustang of RFK Racing and the No. 51 Chevrolet Camaro of Rick Ware Racing failed pre-race inspection two times on Saturday.
Both teams lost pit stall selection for Sunday's Cup Series race, which continues the 10-race Chase. NASCAR ejected car chief Joshua Sisco from the No. 17 team and car chief Dave Jones from the No. 51 team.
Both entries passed inspection on the third time, so they had the opportunity to take part in qualifying. The teams also avoided having to serve a pass-through penalty after taking the green flag.
This penalty could pose more problems for Chris Buescher and the No. 17 team, considering that they are currently competing in the 10-race Chase. Buescher is 11th in the standings after one race, and he is 88 points back of leader Denny Hamlin.
Buescher fell one spot in the standings after last weekend's race at Darlington. He started 35th, missed out on stage points, and finished 20th while fellow Chase contender Christopher Bell won for the first time this season.
The RFK Racing driver has made three Cup Series starts at World Wide Technology Raceway, and he has delivered top-15 finishes each time. He finished 12th in 2023, 14th in 2024, and ninth last season.
Ware also has three Cup Series starts at the track. He failed to finish his first start at WWT Raceway due to a power steering failure. He then finished 33rd and 29th in his last two starts.
The Cup Series race at World Wide Technology Raceway will take place on Sunday. The USA Network pre-race show will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET. The race coverage will continue at 3 p.m. ET with Leigh Diffey, Steve Letarte, and Jeff Burton in the booth.
