According to the press release and provided map, this Southern California street course will feature 16 turns spanning 3.4 miles. It will feature some special areas that race fans have never seen in the history of NASCAR. Chief on this list is Turn 5, "Carrier Corner." This turn sits between the docking location of two aircraft carriers while providing a jaw-dropping backdrop.

Additionally, Turn 8 will be the "Coronado Chicane" that features drivers racing toward the base's interior. Turn 14 will feature drivers racing near Runway 18/36 at Halsey Field. Once the racers navigate through Turns 15 and 16, they will cross the start-finish line named in honor of Commander Theodore Ellyson, Naval Aviator Number One.

This race will take place on an active military base, but the course will have grandstand seating and hospitality located throughout for race weekend attendees. However, NASCAR fans can only attend on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21. All of the events on Friday, June 19, will only be open to select Coronado residents and members of the U.S. Navy at the base.

The Craftsman Truck Series teams will take center stage on Friday, June 19. The top names in this series will race door-to-door around Naval Base Coronado while kicking off a historic weekend.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series teams will follow with a race on Saturday, June 20. The Cup Series teams will take over the street course on Sunday, June 21, while capping off the race weekend.

NASCAR has not revealed the distance for any of these races, nor has it released any schedules regarding practice and qualifying. The expectation is that the teams will take part in an extended practice session as is customary on new additions to the schedule.

"It's so exciting to finally share the street course layout and provide this first look for our long-time and new fans," said NASCAR San Diego President Amy Lupo in a statement.

"Anticipation for this event is already high, and we know this course layout will raise that level of excitement even higher. We can't wait to see how the best drivers in the world meet this challenge, while celebrating America's Navy."
