AVONDALE, Ariz. — Ryan Preece has said multiple times that he would get his revenge on teammate Chris Buescher as part of an ongoing prank war. He did not make empty promises, as he showed Friday in Phoenix, Arizona.

The RFK Racing driver made an intriguing post on social media, one that simply said, "Checkmate (Chris Buescher). I hear Uber is helpful for rides back from the track."

Buescher responded by asking about the location of his rental car. He then posted a photo on X showing that he had his answer. His rental car had just gained what appeared to be several pounds of shrink wrap and lights.

Preece also had the car towed from the competitor parking lot at Phoenix Raceway back to the hotel where the RFK Racing drivers stayed for championship weekend.

FanBuzz spoke to Buescher on Saturday at Phoenix Raceway, several hours after he first saw the wrapped car. Buescher revealed that Preece had also used zip ties on the driveshaft of his car, which created a very irritating noise.

Preece's revenge served as the culmination of an intriguing storyline that began in late September during the playoff weekend at Kansas Speedway.

Buescher stole the passenger door off of Preece's rental Ford Bronco. He did not reveal its location until well after the Cup Series race. In fact, Buescher made his teammate drive back to the airport rental lot without the door.

The two drivers did not provide any other details about the opening salvo in this prank war, but FanBuzz set out to obtain some answers. This led to questions at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Did Preece ever recover the door to the rental SUV? What is next for the RFK Racing teammates?

"Yeah I did," Preece told FanBuzz. "Chris (Buescher) made me drive to the airport, and then we put it on at the airport. So sorry, Avis, but your Ford Bronco does have a door back on it."

Said Buescher, "I locked it in the trunk of my rental car. I lock my doors, so he could not get it back and I made sure that he had to drive to the airport door-less.

"I almost made him drive back topless, but I figured I couldn't get that off quick enough. We just took the one door for the time being."

Preece told FanBuzz at Charlotte Motor Speedway that he would get his revenge on Buescher. He did not say when, but he said it would happen. He continued to tease this outcome throughout the remaining Cup Series races.

As Buescher revealed on Halloween, Preece remained true to his word.
