According to a Wednesday announcement, the Toyota team has agreed to a multi-year deal with Blaine Perkins. The California native will make the move to Sam Hunt Racing in 2027 to drive the No. 24 Toyota GR Supra.
The No. 24 team will continue to have crew chief Brian Gainey on the pit box. He took over this role this season while working with Harrison Burton. SHR will provide more details about partners at a later date.
Perkins is the second new driver to join SHR for the 2027 season and beyond. The team previously announced that Sheldon Creed will move to the No. 26 Toyota next season after closing out his two-year tenure at Haas Factory Team.

"I'm proud to announce that I will be joining Sam Hunt Racing in a multi-year deal starting in 2027. It's a dream come true to have the opportunity to race for SHR and Toyota," Perkins said.
"I can't thank my sponsors and supporters enough for helping make a longtime dream of mine into my new reality."
Perkins, 26, made his way to the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2021 after winning three races and finishing second in the 2020 ARCA Menards Series West standings.
He has since driven for Our Motorsports, SS Green Light Racing, RSS Racing, and Jordan Anderson Racing. Perkins has six top-10 finishes in 137 career starts, five of which have been with Jordan Anderson Racing.
"We're extremely excited to have Blaine join the SHR family and continue his development with us into the future," said Sam Hunt, Owner and President of Sam Hunt Racing.
"He's a great person, has experience in these cars, and is extremely motivated to take the next step as a driver. We are excited to embed him into our culture and give him the tools and resources he needs to be successful both on and off the track."
Jordan Anderson Racing now has more information to provide about its driver lineup for the 2027 season. Perkins will leave for Sam Hunt Racing while Jeb Burton will leave for RSS Racing.
The Chevrolet team has already announced that Daniel Dye will drive one of its entries, but it will have to provide more details about the rest of the lineup as the 2027 season approaches.
