Authorities have arrested two North Carolina residents in connection to a burglary that occurred at NASCAR veteran Dave Marcis' home while he was out of town.

According to Autoweek's Deb Williams, Hailey Bowlin and Cameron Samotis were both arrested after the Buncombe County and Henderson County (North Carolina) Sheriff's offices worked together on an investigation.
The authorities arrested Bowlin on Sept. 2 and initially charged her with a probation violation. They then charged her with "second-degree burglary, possession of a firearm by a felon, larceny of a firearm, larceny after breaking and entering, and five counts of obtaining property by false pretense."
The authorities then arrested Samotis days later and charged him with second-degree burglary. Both suspects are currently in custody in the Henderson County Detention Center.
The burglary occurred in late August while Marcis was out of town. The suspects broke into his Arden, North Carolina, home and stole countless valuable items.
The list reportedly included Rolex watches, knives, guns, and NASCAR memorabilia. Some of these items were personalized. For example, the knives honored past Winston Cup Series champions.
According to Autoweek, a spokesperson for the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department said that the majority of items have been recovered.
A native of Wausau, Wisconsin, Marcis competed in multiple NASCAR series throughout his career. He primarily raced in the NASCAR Cup Series, doing so from 1968 until 2002 when he made his final start at the age of 61.
The veteran driver won five races during his Cup Series career. He scored his first win in 1975 at Martinsville Speedway, the same season that he finished second in the championship standings behind Richard Petty.
Marcis then won three races in 1976. He celebrated at Richmond Raceway, Talladega Superspeedway, and Atlanta Motor Speedway before finishing sixth in the championship standings.
His final trip to victory lane came in 1982 as he piloted the No. 71 Chevrolet to the win at Richmond Raceway after leading five laps.
