Pole-winner Corey Heim, Layne Riggs, and Grant Enfinger all crashed from the top three and damaged their trucks. This sent all three drivers down pit road for repairs and knocked them out of contention for stage points early.
What happened in this incident? The replay showed that Enfinger attempted to turn left entering Turn 1, but he did not have the needed room. He hit the right-rear of Riggs's truck, which turned it into Heim's truck. This kicked off a chain reaction.

"He'll get his f****** a** beat after this race. That's twice this year," an irate Riggs said over the radio about Enfinger. He asked his team if someone had hit Enfinger or if the veteran driver had just made a mistake. Upon hearing that it was a simple mistake, he responded, "typical."
All three playoff drivers needed to avoid calamity at the Charlotte Roval to keep in contention for spots in the Championship 4. They didn't achieve this on the opening lap, but they also avoided race-ending damage.
These drivers made multiple trips down pit road for repairs as their crews put in the work to get them back to a competitive speed. All three drivers used this speed to stay on the lead lap and gain several positions after a caution for Ben Rhodes wrecking.
Heim made the most progress after the wreck. He moved up to 15th by Lap 12 while Riggs and Enfinger ran 20th and 21st, respectively. Riggs then complained about possible tire or sway bar issues as the opening stage continued.
Despite the issues, Riggs put himself in position for a bonus point at the end of stage 1. Enfinger and Heim both short-pitted the stage as a strategy play so they could gain track position to start stage 2.
The team confirmed after stage 1 that Riggs had broken a sway bar by going sideways across the chicane. This forced him back onto pit road multiple times for repairs. The team ultimately got the truck to a point where Riggs could just complete laps.
